China Weather in June

June marks the arrival of the hot weather in China, with the temperature ranging from 16ºC to 33ºC in most cities of China. From this month on, the high temperature will keep rising until the extremely hot weather in July and August. It is dry in North China, wet and humid in South and Central China. The area south of the Yangtze River is very rainy as the rainy season takes place. June ranks as one of the wettest months for many areas of China. Though it’s quite hot and wet, June is not that hot as July and August.

June Packing Suggestion

North: It’s very hot in North China, with the temperature ranging from 18 ºC to 30 ºC in Beijing. Thus, short-sleeved T-shirts and shorts are available.

Central: Tourists had better bring short-sleeved or sleeveless shirts, skirts, shorts, umbrellas, rain shoes, easy-dry shoes, sunglasses, and sun cream.

South: It’s hot and humid, with the temperature ranging from 21ºC to 31ºC. The rainy season arrives in many regions of South China. Thus, tourists had better bring not only short-sleeved or sleeveless shirts, skirts, and shorts, but also umbrellas, rain shoes, easy-dry shoes, sunglasses, and sun cream.

Why visit China in June

1. The weather is hot in most areas of China. Thus, tourists can travel with light packs instead of wearing too much, bringing convenience to travelers.

2. Though it begins to become hot in China, June is not that hot as July and August. What’s more, the peak tourist summer holiday hasn’t arrived yet. Tourists needn’t worry about the travel rush or the increasing price of the hotels.

Beware of Some Conditions during a June Visit

It’s hot in most areas of China, and humid and rainy in most areas of South China. Thus, if you take a dislike to the hot weather and can’t bear the rainy days, you had better avoid this season.

Top June Destinations

Qingdao

Qingdao, as a charming seafront metropolis in Shandong Province, is called “China's Switzerland" due to its Bavarian appearance. There are numerous places of interest and historic sites in the Beidaihe Scenic Area, also known as the “24 Sceneries”.

Beidaihe Scenic Area has a pleasant climate with both mild winters and summers. The average temperature during the hottest period in the summer is only around 24℃. The air in the coastal area is also clear and refreshing, which makes it a perfect place for recreation and relaxation.

Inner Mongolia

In Inner Mongolia, there were 80 National-Class (from Class 1A to Class 4A) tourist areas round about Inner Mongolia, such as the Gegentala Grassland Tourist Center, the Wusutu National Forest Park, the Xilamuren Grassland Tourist Center, and the Huhenuoer Tourist Center. Tourists can appreciate and experience the grassland custom. Besides, from June 11th to June 13th, 2011, the grand Naadam Grassland Festival will be held there, during which, there will be various characteristic activities, such as wrestling, archery, and horseracing. Besides, tourists can also enjoy various ethnic performances and delicious featured food.

Kunming

Kunming, highly praised as the City of Eternal Spring, abounds with a large number of various kinds of flowers and boasts pleasant weather conditions all year round. Besides, tourists can also enjoy the famous places of interest, such as Stone Forest and Fengping Buddhist Pagoda. Kunming has 26 ethnic minorities, with cultural diversity and rich ethnic characteristics.

Lijiang

Lijiang, located in northwestern Yunnan Province, is a prefecture-level city boasting fantastic scenery, with mountains and rivers ideally matched together. Lijiang tourism resource covers an area of about 1,033 square kilometers. The major tourist sites can be described as "two mountains, one river, one town and one lake", namely, Laojun Mountain, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, The first Bay of Yangtze River, Lijiang Ancient Town, and Lugu Lake. Besides the wonderful sceneries, the culture in Lijiang is also mysterious and interesting, such as Dongba culture and Naxi ancient music. Due to its special geological structure, abundant transitional fossils, and characteristic plants and animal population, Lijiang has been a rich treasure for scientific research.
